With a PhD in Chemistry and over two decades of leadership in the charitable and community sectors, she brings a unique blend of analytical rigour, compassion, and strategic vision to her work.
Dr Kabir began her career in the UK’s third sector through roles at Ashram International and the Judith Trust, where she supported some of the most vulnerable members of society—including women with learning disabilities, asylum seekers, and those facing cultural and linguistic barriers to integration. These early roles shaped her enduring commitment to equity and inclusion.
She currently serves as Programme Manager at the Afghan Association of Healthcare Professionals UK (AAHP-UK), where she oversees national projects helping Afghan medical professionals rebuild their careers in the UK. Her responsibilities span policy development, donor relations, and programme delivery, including tailored support for doctors navigating requalification and employment pathways.
At the Afghan Association of London (AAL), Dr Kabir led the “Leading Women” project, creating safe, empowering spaces for Afghan and migrant women across the borough. Her work involved ESOL education, vocational training, and hands-on support with housing, welfare, and employment. Through partnerships with local institutions, she helped women gain confidence, independence, and community belonging.
Her leadership, kindness, and unwavering work ethic have made her a well-known and deeply appreciated figure within the Afghan community in London. Whether through one-to-one support or high-level advocacy, she is recognised for her ability to connect, uplift, and mobilise others.
As a Trustee of the Centre for Transitional Peace for Afghanistan, Dr Kabir now lends her voice and experience to wider efforts promoting dialogue, inclusion, and long-term peacebuilding. Fluent in Persian, she continues to play an active role in shaping the future of the diaspora with dignity and quiet determination.
