Rahmatullah Nabil is a respected national security expert, intelligence reformer, and political leader whose career has been defined by his unwavering commitment to Afghan sovereignty, democratic transition, and institutional accountability. He brings more than two decades of experience in security, diplomacy, and human rights to his role as Director General of the Centre for Transitional Peace.

Born in 1968 in Maidan Wardak, Mr Nabil began his professional journey in humanitarian work, including roles with the United Nations and international NGOs. He later founded the Presidential Protective Service and played a central role in early state-building efforts. As Director General of the National Directorate of Security (2010–2012, 2013–2015), he led significant reforms to Afghanistan’s intelligence apparatus, focusing on professionalism, national independence, and civilian rights.

In 2019, Mr Nabil ran as an independent candidate in the Afghan presidential elections and later founded the Afghanistan National Liberty Party, promoting anti-corruption, national unity, and democratic reform. His post-2021 work includes developing the “New Narrative for Afghanistan” and contributing to international dialogue on peacebuilding.
